Star was born in Orange County, California. After his father commited suicide, Star was subsequently raised solely by his mother. As a child, Star alleges he began regularly experimenting with his mother's makeup and convinced her to let him wear it to school when he was in junior high. He moved to Los Angeles following his graduation from high school, supporting himself with various makeup, modeling and music jobs.
By 2014 Jeffree Star had successfully built a big online presence, which inspired him to start his own makeup empire, he along with all his savings founded his own brand Jeffree Star cosmetics. After the founding of his company Star gained even more momentum in all social media platforms and he achieved an outstanding 15 million subscribers on his main social platform Youtube. By the end of the year Star's company was worth millions of dollars, and he had come up with several makeup collections that became popular all over the globe.
Besides being an online celebrity, Jeffree has also been in the face of controversy and feuds with other popular celebrities in and outside of the makeup world, some famous faces that have been known to be close to Jeffree in the past and later on parted ways with the artist are; Manny Gutierrez, Kat Von D, and Kimberly Kardashian, that subsequently caused a fued between her sister Kyle Jenner and Star.
